Pulmonary Hypertension

This person has an infusion pump delivering Treprostinil.

  1. Never stop the pump.
  2. Do not remove cannula.
  3. Do not alter dose.

  1. Get patient to the nearest emergency department.
  2. Inform emergency staff of patient’s condition and share this webpage with them.

Instructions for Emergency staff

This patient has an infusion of Treprostinil running via a small pump into a sub-cutaneous cannula, usually located in the abdomen.

Critical care instructions

This infusion needs to be re-established immediately:

  • Ask patient (if they are able) to re-establish the infusion. The patient should have a second pump with them.
  • Alternatively, ask patient’s trained Nominated Person to set up a new infusion or establish a new cannula. Their phone number is on an emergency card that the patient carries in their wallet or infusion pouch.

  • The pump is not MRI compatible.
