PHA Ireland at Dáil Éireann

13th February 2018 was a very important and valuable day at Oireachtas Éireann, Ireland’s parliament, for PHA Ireland. A delegation of  medical staff from the National Pulmonary Hypertension Unit, Mater Hospital, and members of PHA Ireland (Patients and Families members) attended and we are immensely grateful for all those who gave of their time to hear of the unique hardships Pulmonary Hypertension patients and their families must deal with. Our special thanks to Kevin O’Keeffe TD and his team. Deputy O’Keeffe gave us great support in our recent awareness event(s) in Cork and was instrumental in extending the invite to meet concerned members of the Oireachtas and showed great generosity in facilitating the day. We’d also like to thank Billy Kelleher TD, Fianna Fail Spokesperson for Health and the other Dáil members and staff present for showing deep interest in PH amongst the many pressing issues of State. It was a precious opportunity for the Pulmonary Hypertension Medical Team and Association members to explain the grave challenges of this rare disease. The Association wants, most of all, to raise awareness of PH while in tandem fight the isolation that sufferers of this rare disease and their families can feel at times. Today we can safely say we felt truly connected to and welcomed by our representatives in Dáil Éireann.
